About Life Coaching

What is life coaching?

Life coaching is a support relationship focused on where you are right now and where you want to go. A coach helps you identify what is holding you back, build practical tools to move forward, and stay accountable to the changes you are trying to make. It is practical, forward-focused, and built around your real life.

What is life coaching for moms?

Life coaching for moms is coaching that is specifically focused on the experiences and challenges that come with motherhood, postpartum recovery, pregnancy anxiety, ADHD, mental load, infertility, identity shifts, and the general overwhelm of raising children while trying to take care of yourself. It is not generic coaching applied to a mom situation. It is support built around what moms actually go through.

How is coaching different from therapy?

Therapy is a clinical service designed to diagnose and treat mental health conditions and process past experiences. Coaching is not a clinical service. It is forward-focused, practical, and built around helping you make real changes in your daily life. Melissa's background in therapy means she brings clinical depth to her coaching work, but her coaching sessions are not therapy. If you are not sure which one is right for you, the free consultation is a good place to start.

Is postpartum coaching the same as counseling?

No. Postpartum coaching is a practical support relationship, not a clinical counseling relationship. Coaching focuses on present challenges, practical tools, and forward movement. If you are in crisis or dealing with clinical-level postpartum depression or anxiety, a licensed counselor or psychiatrist is the right starting point.

Getting Started

How do I know if coaching is right for me?

Coaching tends to be a good fit if you are struggling but not in crisis, you want practical tools and strategies rather than just a space to process feelings, you are ready to do real work, and you want someone in your corner who holds you accountable. If you are unsure, the free consultation is exactly for that conversation.

How do I get started?

Fill out the contact form or send Melissa an email directly. She will follow up within one to two business days to schedule a free consultation. The consultation is a real conversation, not a sales pitch. You will leave knowing if this is the right fit.

What if I've tried therapy before and it didn't help?

Therapy and coaching are different. If therapy did not give you what you needed, it may be that the format, focus, or provider was not right, or that coaching is actually a better fit for what you are looking for. A free consultation with Melissa gives you a chance to talk through your history and figure out if this is worth trying.

Sessions and Format

What happens during a coaching session?

Every session is focused on where you are right now. Melissa will check in on how the previous week went, work through whatever is most pressing, and help you build or refine the tools and strategies you are using. You will always leave with clear takeaways and specific next steps. Sessions are sixty minutes and held virtually.

Do you offer virtual sessions?

Yes. All sessions are held virtually, which means you can access support from home, from wherever you are most comfortable, without commuting or arranging childcare. Sessions are available to moms across Minnesota and across the United States.

How does scheduling work?

After your consultation, you and Melissa will find session times that work for your schedule. Scheduling is flexible and designed to fit into real mom life, including nap times, early mornings, and evenings.

Do you offer support between sessions?

Yes, depending on your package. The Foundation, Momentum, and Full Support packages all include between-session access via Voxer or email. The Full Support package includes priority access. If something comes up between sessions, you have somewhere to take it.

Services & Specialties

Can I do coaching if I'm not postpartum?

Yes. Melissa works with mothers and women at all stages, during pregnancy, postpartum, and beyond. She also supports women moving through ADHD, anxiety, and infertility, regardless of where they are in their parenting experience. You do not have to be a new mom to work with her.

Do you work with anxiety & ADHD?

Yes. Both are core areas of Melissa's coaching work. She has personal experience with ADHD and has spent fifteen years in the mental health field, including work with anxious clients. Her coaching around both ADHD and anxiety is practical and specific, not generic.

Do you work with infertility?

Yes. Infertility support coaching is one of Melissa's areas of focus. Sessions around infertility are slower-paced and focused on the emotional weight of the waiting, the grief, and the day-to-day experience of moving through this process. There is no pressure, no rushing, and no agenda beyond what you need.

Expectations & Results

How long does coaching take?

It depends on what you are working through. Some clients come for a single Clarity Session and get what they need. Others work with Melissa for one to three months through a structured package. The free consultation will help you figure out what makes sense for your situation.

What results can I expect?

Results depend on the work you bring to sessions, what you are working on, and how long you work together. Most clients report feeling more grounded, having clearer practical tools, experiencing less overwhelm, and feeling more like themselves. Longer packages allow for deeper and more lasting change.

Privacy & Logistics

Is coaching confidential?

Yes. Everything shared in coaching sessions is kept confidential. Melissa will not share your information or the content of your sessions with anyone.

Do you work with clients outside Minnesota?

Yes. Melissa works with moms across the United States virtually. Location is not a barrier. If you have a reliable internet connection and a private space for sessions, you can work with Melissa regardless of where you live.
